AT&T Raises Home Internet Prices by $5 Starting December 1

AT&T has announced a price increase for its home internet services, with monthly rates rising by $5 effective December 1, 2025. The telecommunications company cites rising operational costs as the reason for this latest adjustment. Customers are being notified of this change via email, following a similar increase in November 2024.
This new price hike will not affect customers who subscribed within the last year or those enrolled in the Access from AT&T program, which is designed for low-income households. An AT&T spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that the company is committed to maintaining high-quality service amid changing business needs. The company’s support page states, “To keep giving you the high-quality service you expect, we need to adjust our internet plan prices as our business needs change and costs go up.”
Discounts Available for Autopay Users
AT&T is also promoting discounts for customers who opt for autopay and paperless billing. Those who sign up for autopay via bank account can receive a $10 discount each month, while payments made through debit cards will yield a $5 discount. Additionally, customers using the AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi can obtain a $5 monthly discount. These discounts are expected to appear within the first two billing periods.
The price increases have sparked frustration among some users on social media platforms. A Reddit user expressed concerns over what they termed “corporate greed,” while others noted the value of having access to high-speed fiber connections. One commenter remarked, “I’d kill to even get cable, much less fiber. Rural life is not for tech people.” Another user defended the service, stating, “It’s worth it. My AT&T fiber is insanely fast and reliable.”
Rising Costs and Connectivity Issues
The trend of increasing internet prices is becoming a common concern among consumers. A study published earlier this year by CNET and the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society found that nearly 63% of adults in the United States experienced a spike in their internet bills in 2024. On average, these individuals paid $195 more than they did in 2023, with nearly half reporting issues with unreliable connectivity.
As AT&T implements this increase, customers will likely continue to voice their opinions on the fairness of such price adjustments in a market that shows little improvement in service despite rising costs.
