Broken Relic Secures Kickstarter Funding Goal in Days

Pablo Morales, a solo developer, has announced that his upcoming pixel-art point-and-click adventure game, Broken Relic, has successfully reached its Kickstarter funding goal within just a few days of launching. This achievement highlights the vibrant community support for adventure games, particularly those reminiscent of classics from LucasArts and Sierra.
The rapid accomplishment of the funding goal reflects a strong demand for narrative-driven experiences in gaming. Morales expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This milestone shows that there is still a huge audience that loves and supports point-and-click adventures.” He drew inspiration from childhood favorites like Monkey Island and Discworld, emphasizing the shared passion for the genre among backers.
In Broken Relic, players step into the shoes of Tim, an apprentice who inadvertently releases an ancient danger. To restore balance, Tim must retrieve three relic shards. The game promises an engaging mix of witty dialogue, intricate puzzles, and stunning pixel art, serving as both a tribute to the golden age of adventure games and an innovative take on the genre.
While the initial funding target has been met, the Kickstarter campaign remains active, featuring stretch goals that aim to enhance the game further. These include professional voice acting, improved music, and localization options. Backers still have the chance to secure various rewards, including digital editions, collector big box releases, and limited NPC cameos, allowing fans to participate in Morales’ ambitious vision for Broken Relic.
The campaign’s swift success underscores a robust appetite for traditional adventure games and affirms the enduring relevance of story-driven gameplay in today’s gaming environment. As the campaign progresses, it will be interesting to see how these additional features resonate with backers and contribute to the final product.
