Explore the Terrifying World of Dead Format’s Demo on Steam
Gamers can now experience the chilling atmosphere of Dead Format, as Katanalevy and Oro Interactive have released the first public demo on Steam. This survival horror game invites players to delve into two distinct narratives, each presented through the lens of VHS tapes that transport them to nightmarish realms inspired by classic cinematic eras.
Uncovering the Mystery of a Missing Brother
In Dead Format, players take on the role of a character searching for their missing brother, navigating both the eerie environments of the tapes and a fragile sanctuary in their apartment. This space serves as a refuge where players can recuperate, analyze clues, and prepare for the daunting challenges that lie ahead. The juxtaposition of the apartment and the terrifying worlds within the tapes creates a compelling narrative structure.
The demo features two distinct environments. The first embodies the eerie charm of 1930s silent horror, while the second taps into the grotesque body horror prevalent in the 1980s. The latter draws inspiration from iconic films such as Alien and The Thing, establishing a tense and visually striking experience that pays homage to these cinematic milestones.
Experience the Analog Horror
Players will encounter lurking dangers, complex puzzles, and the constant struggle for survival against incomprehensible forces as they explore these twisted realms. The meticulous design of Dead Format ensures that every element has been crafted specifically for the game, with all VHS footage recorded and edited by Katanalevy to evoke the distinctive texture and tone of each film era.
To coincide with the demo’s launch, Oro Interactive has released a new trailer that showcases the game’s unique tone and style, hinting at the dread that awaits in the full version, which is slated for release in 2025. This demo encapsulates the unsettling beauty of analog horror, blending nostalgia with fear in a manner that feels both familiar and deeply disturbing.
Those interested in confronting the terror of Dead Format can download the demo now on Steam. Experience the horror one tape at a time and immerse yourself in a world that challenges the boundaries of survival horror gaming.
