Fractured Worlds Launches Public Playtest on Steam and Epic Games

Fractured Worlds, an old-school dark fantasy action RPG, has officially launched its first public playtest on both the Steam platform and the Epic Games Store. Developed by Matt Oelfke, a seasoned programmer and designer known for his work on popular franchises such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, the game invites players to experience a hybrid ARPG that combines modern mechanics with seamless multiplayer integration.
Exploring a Fractured Universe
The playtest offers players a substantial preview of the full game, featuring online co-op play, invasions, and challenging boss encounters. Although the content is limited, it provides a complete experience, complete with procedurally generated dungeons and rare enemies that come with unpredictable modifiers. Players can also expect to find legendary loot and benefit from a classless progression system that allows for a high degree of customization in their playstyle.
Set in a world that has been torn into fragmented realities, Fractured Worlds immerses players in a mysterious universe filled with peril. Guided by an enigmatic voice, players must navigate shattered realms, recover lost memory fragments, and confront the forces behind the cataclysm that has disrupted their world. The combat system is designed to be deliberate and precision-based, with each weapon offering unique weight, speed, and movesets.
Gameplay Features and Multiplayer Dynamics
The classless progression system in Fractured Worlds enables players to explore flexible combinations of equipment and skills, enhancing the depth of gameplay. Multiplayer interactions allow players to share portions of their game world, including enemies and loot, with others, fostering a collaborative experience.
During this playtest, players will experience a curated slice of content that aims to refine progression and balance. It includes multiple weapon archetypes and Map Shard instances with modifiers designed to test loot scaling and cooperative dynamics. Full game systems are enabled, offering an engaging ARPG experience that showcases the creativity at the core of this title.
Players eager to delve into the realms of dark fantasy exploration and tactical combat can now join the playtest, which is set to run through October 2023. This initiative not only allows players to engage with the game but also provides valuable feedback that will shape the final product.
For those interested in taking part, the playtest is available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, marking an exciting opportunity for fans of the genre to immerse themselves in this innovative gaming experience.
