Fractured Worlds Launches Public Playtest on Steam and Epic Games Store
Fractured Worlds, a dark fantasy action RPG, has officially launched its first public playtest on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Developed by Matt Oelfke, a seasoned programmer known for his work on major titles such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, the game aims to provide players with a hybrid action role-playing experience that integrates modern mechanics and seamless multiplayer capabilities.
Gameplay and Features
The playtest offers participants a substantial preview of the full game, featuring online co-op, challenging boss encounters, and unique gameplay elements such as Map Shards. Players will experience procedurally generated dungeons filled with unpredictable enemies, each possessing rare modifiers and legendary loot. Although the content is limited, the overall experience is designed to be complete, allowing players to engage with a classless progression system that supports diverse playstyles.
Set within a fractured universe, players in Fractured Worlds embark on an immersive journey guided by an enigmatic voice. Their mission involves exploring shattered realms, recovering lost memory fragments, and confronting the forces that led to the world’s cataclysm. The combat system emphasizes precision and strategy, ensuring that each weapon offers distinct weight, speed, and movesets. This design encourages players to experiment with different combinations of equipment and skills.
Optimizing Player Experience
The focus of the playtest is to fine-tune the game’s progression and balance. By allowing players to engage with multiple weapon archetypes and Map Shard instances, the developers can effectively test loot scaling and cooperative dynamics. With all game systems activated, including multiplayer functionalities and combat mechanics, the playtest presents an engaging ARPG experience that showcases the depth and creativity inherent in Fractured Worlds.
As players dive into this dark fantasy realm, they can expect to encounter a blend of tactical combat and exploration. The playtest is now available for those eager to experience the challenges and intricacies of this unique gaming environment. Interested players can join the playtest on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, marking an exciting step forward for Oelfke and his team as they prepare for the game’s future release.
