Google has unveiled an exclusive opportunity for its most dedicated users, selecting 15 Pixel Superfans to become part of its innovative Pixel Trusted Tester Program. This initiative allows participants to test unreleased Pixel phones, providing valuable feedback to the tech giant.

Selection Process for Pixel Trusted Testers

According to information obtained by The Verge, the selection process is specifically designed for members of the Pixel Superfans club. Interested participants were required to complete an entry form that posed three pivotal questions:

1. “How many Pixel devices have you ever owned?”
2. “As a Pixel Superfan, please give us feedback on your current Pixel device. What would you improve and why?”
3. “If you had a magic wand, what feature would you add to your device and why?”

The responses to these questions were evaluated by a panel of Google judges, who selected candidates based on the quality of their answers. Those chosen will advance to a second round of questioning before being officially named as Pixel Trusted Testers.

Requirements and Future Opportunities

Winners of this program will have specific responsibilities, including signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and agreeing to use a protective case on the device to maintain confidentiality. Additionally, they must return the devices to Google within seven years and actively participate in surveys and troubleshooting efforts related to software bugs.

The submission deadline for this year’s program was October 17, 2023, prior to the public announcement by Bloomberg. However, Google has indicated that the program may continue in future years, referring to it as “Trusted Tester 2025.” This suggests that there may be additional opportunities for users to participate in 2026, depending on the success of the current program.

For those interested in becoming Pixel Superfans, there is still an opportunity to join the community. Residents of the United States can apply to be part of the Pixel Superfans group, potentially opening doors to future testing opportunities.

While the current chance to enter the testing program has passed, the excitement surrounding Google’s engagement with its Superfans points to a growing trend of user involvement in product development. Interested individuals can find more details and the full official rules on The Verge website.
