Insta360 Launches Affordable X4 Air with 8K 360 Video Capabilities
Insta360 has introduced the new X4 Air, a 360-degree camera designed to make 8K video recording more accessible for creators on a budget. Priced at approximately $399, the X4 Air offers a compact and lightweight option for those seeking high-quality immersive video capabilities without the premium price tag associated with other models in the market.
Key Features of the Insta360 X4 Air
The X4 Air captures stunning 8K 360-degree video at 30 frames per second and 4K video at 50 frames per second. It is equipped with dual 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensors that deliver vibrant colors, making it suitable for both video and photography. The camera can take still images with a maximum resolution of 29MP, which, while lower than Insta360’s flagship models, should suffice for most users.
Despite being a more affordable option than the X5 model, the X4 Air maintains essential features such as FlowState stabilization, a 360-degree horizon lock, and the Invisible Selfie Stick effect. Additionally, the camera is designed to be waterproof up to 15 meters, eliminating the need for extra housing in various shooting conditions. Weighing just 165 grams and measuring 46 x 113.8 x 37 mm, it is also 30 grams lighter than its predecessors, enhancing its portability for on-the-go creators.
The X4 Air is powered by a built-in 2,010mAh battery, which provides up to 90 minutes of recording time at 8K resolution. The battery can be fully charged in just 57 minutes. Notably, the camera features user-replaceable lenses, allowing users to easily swap out lenses if they become scratched. Other convenient functionalities include gesture control, voice activation, and a twist-to-record feature, making it particularly appealing for solo vloggers.
Comparing the X4 Air to Other Models
Positioned below the X4 and X5 in Insta360’s product lineup, the X4 Air sacrifices some photo resolution and slow-motion frame rates but retains crucial features that enhance stability and immersive shooting. Earlier this year, the company also launched the Insta360 GO Ultra at $449, which offers a different, wearable design. Competing products, such as the DJI Osmo Nano, are also available at similar price points, targeting budget-conscious creators.
For casual users interested in experimenting with 360-degree content or creators upgrading from smartphone cameras, the X4 Air presents a compelling option. Its launch price of $399 is significantly lower than the initial prices of the X4 and X5, which were priced over $500 and $550 respectively at their launches. The X4 Air is now available for purchase through Insta360’s official website, Amazon, and select retailers worldwide, and it includes a free one-year subscription to Insta360+.
Overall, the Insta360 X4 Air represents a noteworthy advancement in making high-quality 360-degree video more accessible, catering to a wider range of users and encouraging creativity in immersive content creation.
