Meta Unveils New Tools on Threads to Enhance User Control
Meta’s Threads app has reached a significant milestone, boasting over 150 million daily active users. Following the recent introduction of community features and ephemeral “ghost posts,” the platform is rolling out new tools that enhance user control over conversations. These updates include the Reply Approvals feature and revamped Activity feed filters.
The Reply Approvals feature empowers users to manage which responses to their posts are visible to others. This tool allows users to monitor discussions and ensure that conversations remain focused. When a user receives replies to their posts, they will have the option to approve or ignore each comment individually. For added convenience, there is a one-tap option to approve or ignore all pending replies simultaneously.
In addition to these new controls, Threads already offers users the ability to restrict replies to those they follow, their followers, or individuals they mention in their posts. The latest feature aims to help users “set the tone” for their conversations, providing a more tailored interaction experience.
Enhanced Activity Feed Filters Introduced
Alongside the Reply Approvals, Meta is also implementing new Activity feed filters. These filters will enable users to view replies more efficiently, focusing on contributions from people they follow or specific mentions. This update enhances existing filtering options such as Verified, Quotes, and Reposts, allowing users to curate their interactions further.
These enhancements are part of Meta’s broader strategy as it continues to expand Threads’ user base while ramping up monetization efforts. The company is introducing advertisements on the platform globally and experimenting with new ad formats, including video ads. Additionally, users will soon have the ability to customize their algorithms by adding or removing topics of interest, further refining their experience on Threads.
Meta emphasizes its commitment to user feedback as it implements these new features. By providing tools that increase user engagement and control, the company aims to foster a more positive and productive environment within the Threads community.
