OnePlus 15 Unveils First Camera Samples with New Telephoto Lens

OnePlus has released the first camera samples from its upcoming device, the OnePlus 15, marking a significant shift in its imaging technology. The company announced the end of its collaboration with Hasselblad and introduced its new imaging system named DetailMax. The initial camera samples were shared on its official forums in China, showcasing the capabilities of the new telephoto lens.
The shared images highlight a unique 85mm telephoto camera with an f/2.8 aperture, a departure from the 73mm lens used in the OnePlus 13, which had an f/2.6 aperture. This change aims to enhance the photographic experience for users, particularly in capturing detailed shots. The samples include vibrant images of sheep, a dog, and a woman, demonstrating a realistic color palette and impressive contrast.
While the samples feature the LUMO Light-Capturing Imaging System branding, OnePlus has indicated that this may be specific to the Chinese market. The company has not explicitly mentioned the OnePlus 15 by name in relation to these samples, but it has confirmed that the images were taken with its “upcoming flagship device.”
For those eager to explore the full potential of the OnePlus 15’s camera, high-resolution images are available for viewing online. This new device is anticipated to launch in China next month, with a global release expected in January 2026, assuming OnePlus maintains its typical release cycle.
As the smartphone market evolves, OnePlus’s commitment to advancing its camera technology will be closely watched by enthusiasts and consumers alike. The transition from Hasselblad to its proprietary imaging system underscores the company’s ambition to redefine its brand identity in the competitive smartphone landscape.
