OnePlus Turbo Revealed: Massive Battery and High Refresh Rate Display
The upcoming OnePlus Turbo, codenamed ‘Prado’, is set to make waves in the smartphone market with its impressive specifications, particularly its substantial 9,000mAh battery and a 144Hz refresh rate display. This device is expected to launch in India soon, following its announcement last week. While the Turbo series will carry that name in China, it may be rebranded as a Nord in other regions.
According to Li Jie Louis, President of OnePlus China, the Turbo series aims to deliver “frighteningly strong” performance, alongside remarkable battery life and gaming capabilities, positioning it as a compelling option in the mid-range segment.
Impressive Specifications and Features
The OnePlus Turbo boasts a range of robust specifications. It features a 6.8-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, providing smooth visuals for gaming and media consumption. Powering this device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, ensuring efficient performance.
Additional specifications include:
– **RAM and Storage**: Options of 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage
– **Cameras**: A 50MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera
– **Battery and Charging**: A 9,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging
– **Connectivity**: Supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4
– **Software**: Runs on Oxygen OS 16 based on Android 16
The design of the OnePlus Turbo resembles that of recent OnePlus models, featuring a camera module positioned in the upper-left corner. The device is expected to have a glossy finish, primarily made of plastic, which could indicate a more affordable price point aimed at the Indian market. Two color options are reportedly being tested: a greenish-blue and a standard glossy black.
Expected Launch Timeline and Global Availability
The OnePlus Turbo is anticipated to launch around March 2026, coinciding with the Mobile World Congress taking place from March 2-5, 2026, in Barcelona. OnePlus has a history of making strategic announcements during this event, hinting that the Turbo series could be introduced to a global audience.
While the Turbo series is primarily targeted at China, similar to the OnePlus Ace line, it is likely to be rebranded as a Nord device for international markets. Unfortunately, this may mean that the Turbo will not be available in the United States, where OnePlus has not released a new Nord device in several years. Currently, the Nord line is not even featured on the OnePlus US website.
As anticipation builds for the OnePlus Turbo, consumers and tech enthusiasts alike are eager to see how it performs in real-world usage, particularly in comparison to its competitors in the mid-range smartphone market.
