A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious ATV hit-and-run that occurred nearly a year ago in Digby County, Nova Scotia. The incident took place on January 15, 2024, around 15:00 local time, when police received reports of a collision between a black GMC Sierra pickup truck and an ATV on Patrice Road in Church Point.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver of the ATV, a 49-year-old man from Church Point, had sustained serious injuries and was quickly transported to a hospital for emergency care. Witnesses reported that the GMC Sierra fled the scene shortly after the crash.

Following an extensive investigation, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) identified the suspect as Zachary David Comeau, a resident of Meteghan Station. Earlier this month, police formally laid charges against Comeau, alleging that he failed to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

Comeau is scheduled to appear in court in Digby at a later date to face these charges. The RCMP has emphasized the importance of accountability in incidents of this nature, particularly when injuries are involved.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward. This case highlights the critical need for drivers to remain at the scene of accidents and assist those in need, reinforcing community safety and responsibility on the roads.
