Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness Champions Confidence and Discipline

As students return to classrooms and families adjust to fall routines, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness offers more than just a workout; it provides a pathway to confidence, discipline, and lifelong success. Founded in 2005 by owner and head coach Gatin, the facility focuses on developing not only physical skills but also mental resilience in its members.
The gym, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, has a spacious 4,000-square-foot facility that welcomes new members with a Back-to-School Special. Youth memberships for ages 6 to 13 and adult memberships for those aged 14 and older are available for $150 per month, reduced from the regular price of $180. Additionally, there is an annual fee of $165 for Boxing BC and Boxing Canada. This special offer is valid for new members until September 30, 2025.
Training at Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness begins with cardio exercises, including skipping, sprints, and circuit training. These activities are structured to mimic the rhythm of boxing, incorporating short bursts of action followed by recovery periods. As members progress, they learn technical skills such as footwork, defensive drills, and offensive combinations.
Younger boxers concentrate on coordination and core strength, while adult participants engage in more intense resistance and high-intensity drills. Sparring is introduced only after six months of training and is available only for those who wish to participate. Gatin emphasizes that initial sparring sessions are light and tactical, focusing on learning rather than competition.
The impact of the gym extends beyond the boxing ring. Gatin notes that many alumni have achieved remarkable success, not just as athletes—earning titles such as Golden Gloves and national champions—but also in various professional fields, including medicine, real estate, and business. “For a small gym, we’ve had big success,” Gatin states, highlighting the importance of discipline, consistency, and goal-setting. “Whether you’re in the ring, in the classroom, or in a boardroom, those skills translate.”
With a dedicated team of three coaches alongside Gatin, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness has established a reputation for cultivating athletes who are not only physically stronger but also more self-assured and capable in all aspects of life. “Our goal is to make sure people leave tired—but smiling,” Gatin adds.
Located just five minutes from downtown Aldergrove, Abbotsford Boxing & Fitness continues to be a beacon of personal development and community engagement. For those interested in joining, the gym can be contacted at 604-826-1455 or visited online for more details.
