Belleville and Quinte West Launch Curbside Christmas Tree Collection
The City of Belleville and Quinte West are kicking off their curbside Christmas tree collection service, allowing residents to dispose of their holiday trees conveniently. This service is set to begin on January 2, 2024, in Belleville and will follow with collection in Quinte West on January 5 and January 12, 2024.
In Belleville, residents can place their Christmas trees at the curb for pickup according to a specific schedule divided into zones. The collection dates are as follows:
– **January 2**: Zones 5 & 6 (north of Highway 401 and east and west of Highway 37)
– **January 5**: Zone 1 (west of Moira River and south of CNR Tracks)
– **January 6**: Zone 2 (west of Moira River and north of CNR Tracks, south of Highway 401)
– **January 7**: Zone 4 (east of Moira River and south of Victoria Avenue)
– **January 8**: Zone 3 (east of Moira River and north of Victoria Avenue)
Residents are reminded to ensure their trees are free of ornaments and tinsel before placing them outside. Trees should be at the curb by **8 a.m.** on the scheduled collection day. For those who prefer to drop off their trees, they can do so at the parks and open spaces office located at **259 North Park St.** A detailed map of the collection zones is available on the City of Belleville’s website.
Meanwhile, in Quinte West, curbside collection will occur on the next two Mondays, specifically on **January 5** and **January 12**. Residents are advised to have their trees at the curb by **7 a.m.** on collection days. Similar to Belleville, artificial trees will not be collected, but residents can drop off their trees at the Frankford yard waste depot.
This seasonal service aims to assist residents in eco-friendly disposal of their Christmas trees while maintaining the community’s cleanliness.
