Braiden Koran Shines as Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Start Strong

Former junior hockey standout Braiden Koran is making an impressive impact as he kicks off his fourth season with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The 6-foot, 211-pound forward has already netted two goals in his first two games, showcasing his offensive skills early in the season.
In a recent matchup against UQTR on October 3, Koran scored on the power play, although the Ridgebacks faced a tough 6-2 defeat. The following day, he found the back of the net again, contributing to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Carlton. Koran’s strong start bodes well for a season where he aims to build upon his previous achievements.
Last season, Koran experienced a significant offensive breakout, finishing with five goals and 15 points over 28 games. He also proved valuable in the playoffs, recording two assists in just two games. Across his four seasons and 74 career games, Koran has accumulated a total of nine goals and 24 points.
Academic Excellence and Hockey Experience
In addition to his athletic prowess, Koran is committed to his studies in Criminology and Justice. He has earned recognition for his academic achievements, being named an Ontario University Athletics All-Academic and a U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian during his first year.
Before joining Ontario Tech, Koran played a significant role for the Kimberley Dynamiters in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). Over the course of two seasons, from 2017 to 2019, he participated in 69 regular season and playoff games, recording 17 goals and 32 assists for a total of 49 points.
As the Ridgebacks continue their season, Koran’s contributions will be crucial in their quest for success in the competitive U Sports landscape. With his combination of skill and academic dedication, he is poised to make a lasting impact both on and off the ice.
