Calgary’s Bridgette Bar Temporarily Closes After Fire Damage
A fire has forced the popular Calgary restaurant, Bridgette Bar, to temporarily close its doors for repairs. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 4, 2023, prompting a swift response from the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) after a fire was reported around 1:40 a.m. The establishment, located at 739 10th Ave. SW, is owned by Concorde Entertainment Group and is a beloved spot in the community.
Upon arrival, fire crews encountered visible flames and smoke emanating from the rear exterior deck of the building. According to Alex Kwan, public information officer for the CFD, firefighters quickly deployed hoselines to extinguish the fire. Crews also discovered a locked storage area under the deck and had to break a lock to ensure there was no further fire or damage within.
Fortunately, while the restaurant suffered some fire damage to a washroom and the private dining room at the rear, Kwan confirmed that there was “no significant structural damage.” During the search of the building, no occupants were found, and only one firefighter sustained a minor injury, receiving first aid on the scene.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with a CFD fire investigator stating that the fire appeared to have originated from the back of the building and the deck area. The team at Bridgette Bar took to social media to inform patrons of the situation, stating they would remain closed as they “assess the damage and begin repairs.”
The local community is hopeful that the restaurant will reopen soon, allowing guests to enjoy its offerings once again.
