Construction Delays Extend Road Closures on Dutch Village Road

Construction delays are prolonging road closures on Dutch Village Road and adjacent streets, according to the Halifax Regional Municipality. The ongoing phase of work has been extended until mid-September due to the discovery of unmarked underground utility infrastructure.

Intersections on the west side of Dutch Village—specifically at Sunnybrae, Central, Rosedale, Frederick, and Rufus avenues—will remain closed until September 19, 2023. While Dutch Village Road is open to northbound traffic from the intersection of Joseph Howe Drive and Bayers Road, southbound traffic is restricted between Supreme Court and the same intersection.

Once the current phase of construction concludes, southbound traffic will be restored, and the affected west-side intersections will reopen. Following this, the construction efforts will shift to the east side of Dutch Village, which is expected to further impact traffic patterns in the area.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan alternative routes during this period to minimize inconveniences caused by the extended closures.
