Fatal Collision Near Brooks: Investigation Underway After Tragedy

A tragic collision in southern Alberta has resulted in one fatality and left authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. At approximately 08:08 on September 23, 2025, a collision occurred at the intersection of Highways 1 and 36, located northwest of Brooks.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the incident involved a semi-truck traveling northbound on Highway 36. A westbound Chevrolet Equinox collided with the semi, leading to a series of events that caused the truck to strike three additional vehicles, which sustained minor damage. The semi ultimately came to a stop in a nearby ditch.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 62-year-old man from Calgary, was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck sustained only minor injuries, and no other individuals reported injuries as a result of the collision.

At this stage, the RCMP is continuing their investigation into the incident to determine the factors that contributed to the crash. Officers are urging anyone with information about the events leading up to the collision to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
