Felice Capasso from Norway has been crowned the World Class Global Bartender of the Year 2025 during the prestigious finals held in Toronto on October 3, 2025. This event, now in its 16th year, brought together bartenders from 51 countries, showcasing exemplary talent in the craft of mixology.

Competing against finalists from six continents, Capasso stood out for his innovative approach and signature serves. As the owner of Nedre Løkka Cocktailbar in Oslo and founder of the Sesto Senso Academy, a center dedicated to wine and spirits education, he impressed a panel of industry experts with his creativity and skill.

Capasso’s victory not only secures him the esteemed title but also includes a trophy, an all-expenses-paid trip to next year’s Global Finals, and mentorship from leading figures in the industry. He will also serve as a guest bartender at various top-tier venues, providing training and hosting events aimed at fostering the next generation of bartenders.

Among the challenges he faced in the competition were reinventing classic cocktails using Johnnie Walker Black Label and creating unique aperitifs inspired by original AI artwork for Don Julio 1942. His standout creation, a cocktail named ‘Top Notes’, was inspired by the classic French 75, showcasing his ability to blend tradition with innovation. For The Singleton’s multi-sensory challenge, Capasso crafted a custom record sleeve tied to the iconic song “That’s Amore,” which complemented his signature drink, ‘Between Us’.

In his acceptance speech, Capasso expressed his gratitude, stating, “Winning World Class is not just a dream come true. It is a goal I have worked tirelessly to achieve. It’s living proof that if you want something and you work for it, and you never, ever give up, no matter what – you can achieve it.” He also highlighted his commitment to promoting education in spirits and inspiring fellow bartenders to pursue their ambitions.

Kevin Delaney, Global Head of World Class, remarked on the significance of the competition, stating, “World Class is the ultimate toast to the people who are the beating heart of the hospitality industry. We have celebrated and nurtured the careers of over 450,000 bartenders through the World Class program, and tonight is the pinnacle moment of celebration for this incredibly special community.”

The judging panel featured notable figures in the bartending world, including Eric Van Beek, the creative force behind the acclaimed Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, and Monica Berg, co-owner of London’s renowned Tayēr + Elementary. Each judge brought a wealth of experience and insight, ensuring a rigorous evaluation of each contestant’s performance.

Ago Perrone, Director of Mixology at the Connaught Bar in London, noted the competition’s impact on the industry, stating, “World Class is such a special occasion, bringing together some of the world’s most creative and driven bartenders. Its impact on the industry is tangible, not only in driving innovation but also in inspiring and nurturing generations of rising talent.”

Felice Capasso’s achievement at the World Class Global Finals not only marks a significant milestone in his career but also underscores the growing recognition of bartenders as key figures in the hospitality industry. As he embarks on this new chapter, Capasso aims to leverage his platform to promote excellence in bartending and contribute to the evolving landscape of cocktail culture globally.
