Huntley Farmers Market Flourishes in Warm Weather Ahead of Closure
Vendors at the Huntley Farmers Market reported a bustling atmosphere on Saturday as they approached the final days of the season. The market, located along Coral Street and parts of Church Street next to Huntley Square, showcased a wide array of goods including fresh produce, baked treats, and handmade crafts.
Mike Riggins, who operates the booth Sleepy Hollow Fresh, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, stating it had been a “very good day” for sales. His offerings included fresh romaine lettuce and tomatoes, drawing considerable interest from shoppers.
On the opposite side of the market, vendor Lindsey Patrick reported a successful day as well, having sold out of her popular chocolate strawberry-flavored macaroons at her booth, Kneading Grace: A Housewife’s Kitchen. She noted the weather was “windy” but overall favorable, attributing the lively market atmosphere to the unseasonably warm temperatures.
The weather in the Huntley area reached the 80s Fahrenheit on Saturday, with similar highs expected to continue through Monday. This warm spell has contributed to a successful close for the farmers market, which will conclude its outdoor season on October 11, 2023. The market operates from 08:00 to 13:00 and will feature a special theme, “Harvest Fest – A Nightmare Before Christmas,” for its final day.
Looking ahead, the village has announced plans for a winter season of the farmers market set to begin in November, ensuring that community members can continue to access local products during the colder months.
With the market’s closure approaching, vendors are making the most of the remaining weekends, taking advantage of the warm weather and strong community support. As local residents and visitors alike enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, the Huntley Farmers Market continues to serve as a vital hub for fresh, locally sourced goods.
