Join the Fun at the Sound of Music Sing-Along on November 23
The Key City Theatre in Cranbrook, Canada, is set to host a lively Sound of Music Sing-Along on November 23, 2024, at 15:00. This event celebrates the 60th anniversary of the beloved film by showcasing it on the big screen with on-screen captions, encouraging attendees to sing along with their favourite tunes. It promises to be a memorable occasion for fans of all ages.
A Nostalgic Experience for All Generations
Attendees can expect an immersive experience, reliving the enchanting tale of the Von Trapp family. The event will feature special guest MC Tyrel Hawke, known for his role as Captain Von Trapp in the 2005 Mount Baker production directed by Rod Osiowy. Many audience members will be former cast members from that production, adding a nostalgic touch to the celebration. As Tyrel puts it, “once a Von Trapp, always a Von Trapp!”
To enhance the atmosphere, the theatre will hold a costume contest, inviting participants to don their best outfits inspired by the film. Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional dirndls, creative curtain dresses, or costumes of beloved characters such as nuns and goat herders. This interactive element aims to engage the community and foster a joyful atmosphere.
Culinary Delights and Community Spirit
During intermission, guests can indulge in themed treats, including Favourite Things cupcakes and specialty mocktails like the Lonely Goatherd and Do-Re-Mi Delight. These offerings not only complement the experience but also highlight the event’s festive spirit.
The Sound of Music Sing-Along is more than just a film screening; it is a celebration of community and shared memories. Whether introducing the film to new generations or revisiting cherished moments, this event promises to be filled with laughter and song. Tickets are now available on the Key City Theatre website or by calling 250-426-7006. With excitement building, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed.
