K9 Unit Aids in Impaired Driving Arrest in Kingston

Early on December 31, 2025, Kingston Police apprehended a 47-year-old local resident for impaired driving following a K9 unit operation. Officers responded to an emergency call about a person in distress near Front Road and the entrance to Lemoine’s Point. Upon arrival, they discovered a heavily damaged vehicle, prompting further investigation.

The patrol officers initiated a K9 track that began at the site of the wrecked vehicle. With the assistance of the K9 handler, they successfully located the suspect approximately one kilometer from the scene of the incident. The individual, who is believed to have been operating the vehicle, was arrested on charges of impaired operation and driving while prohibited.

After the arrest, the suspect was transported to Kingston Police headquarters. There, they refused to provide a breath sample for analysis, complicating the situation further. As a result, the individual faced multiple charges, including operating while prohibited, impaired operation, and failure to provide a breath sample.

The suspect is currently being held in custody, awaiting a bail hearing. The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Kingston to address impaired driving and ensure public safety.
