RCMP and Local Police Dismantle Clandestine Drug Lab in Jordan River

Law enforcement officials have successfully disrupted a clandestine drug lab in Jordan River, a small community situated on southern Vancouver Island. The operation was executed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in collaboration with local police units, including the Sooke RCMP and Victoria Police. The raid took place on April 18, 2021, following the execution of a search warrant at a property on the 3800 block of Trailhead Drive.
During the operation, authorities located and dismantled a synthetic drug laboratory. The RCMP reported seizing significant amounts of methamphetamine and MDMA, along with a loaded handgun. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details regarding the quantities of the seized drugs have been disclosed.
Impact on Public Safety
Insp. Peter Koster, Officer in Charge of Air & Marine Border Integrity at the RCMP’s Federal Policing – Pacific Region (FPPR), emphasized the importance of this operation in maintaining public safety. “Drug production and trafficking are often linked to broader criminal networks that pose serious risks to public safety,” he stated. “By dismantling this lab and seizing these items, we’ve not only removed dangerous substances from our community but also struck a blow against the organized crime groups that profit from them.”
The successful raid highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combatting drug-related crimes. The RCMP and its partners are committed to addressing these issues, as they continue to investigate connections that may exist between this operation and larger criminal enterprises.
Authorities encourage community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could indicate drug production or trafficking in their neighborhoods. Such proactive measures are essential in the ongoing effort to enhance public safety and reduce the influence of organized crime.
This operation follows a series of coordinated efforts across various jurisdictions aimed at tackling drug-related crimes in the region. Just recently, the Campbell River RCMP reported seizing drugs, approximately $16,000 in cash, and another loaded handgun during a separate investigation, further underscoring the scale of the problem.
As the investigation continues in Jordan River, authorities remain focused on dismantling illegal operations that threaten community safety and well-being.
