Sault Ste. Marie Stores Targeted in Morning Robbery Spree
Two businesses in Sault Ste. Marie were robbed in quick succession on the morning of December 16, 2023. The alleged perpetrator, identified as Dallas Solomon, is accused of carrying out both thefts within approximately half an hour, threatening employees with weapons during the incidents.
The first robbery occurred around 06:30 in the 600 block of Wellington Street West. According to police reports, Solomon allegedly threatened an employee with a knife, claiming he had it in his pocket, before making off with cash and merchandise. Just after 07:00, the same individual reportedly entered a store in the 200 block of Dacey Road, where he again threatened staff, this time claiming to possess a firearm, and demanded money.
Authorities apprehended Solomon on December 19, 2023, in the 0 to 100 block of James Street. He faces serious charges including two counts of robbery and failure to comply with a probation order. Solomon is currently in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
These incidents have raised concerns among local residents about safety in the area, as police continue to investigate the robberies. Local businesses are urged to review their security measures in light of these events.
