SIU Clears London Police Following May Pursuit Incident

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has determined that the London Police Service acted appropriately during a police pursuit incident on May 2023. The investigation stemmed from a domestic violence call in Lucan, Ontario, where a suspect reportedly rammed into two police vehicles before fleeing toward London.

In response to the incident, the London police deployed a spike belt to halt the suspect’s vehicle near Jacksway Crescent. The driver, a 28-year-old man, allegedly resisted arrest. After multiple warnings, officers used a taser twice to subdue him. Following these actions, the individual became unresponsive.

Emergency responders on the scene administered Narcan to counteract a potential overdose and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The man was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
