Stephen Eustaquio Injured, Exits Canada Camp Before Wales Match

Midfielder Stephen Eustaquio has exited Canada’s national team camp after sustaining a lower-body injury during a recent friendly match against Romania. As a result, he will miss the upcoming game against Wales, scheduled for September 10, 2025.
Eustaquio’s Injury Details
According to Canada Soccer, the 28-year-old player left the team to return to his club, FC Porto, for further evaluation. Eustaquio played the full 90 minutes in Canada’s 3-0 victory over Romania, marking his 51st cap for the national team. His leadership on the field was evident as he captained the squad, ranked 28th globally.
The Canadian team faces additional challenges due to injuries affecting several key players. Notably, Alphonso Davies, Moise Bombito, Alistair Johnston, Sam Adekugbe, Liam Millar, and Daniel Jebbison are also sidelined. Furthermore, Cyle Larin missed the friendly match against Romania due to personal circumstances related to his wife’s impending childbirth.
Looking Ahead
Despite these setbacks, Canada will welcome the return of Jacob Shaffelburg, who has completed his suspension. His presence is expected to bolster the team as they prepare to face the 31st-ranked Welsh side in Swansea. The match is seen as a crucial opportunity for the Canadian squad to demonstrate their resilience and depth, even in the face of adversity.
