Delta Air Lines Unveils Spanish-Inspired Menu with Chef José Andrés
Delta Air Lines has announced an exciting new partnership with renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés, introducing a Spanish-inspired menu set to launch on November 4, 2023. The Atlanta-based airline aims to enhance its culinary offerings, beginning with passengers in premium cabins, including Delta One and Delta First. This initiative is part of Delta’s broader strategy to provide an elevated dining experience for its travelers.
The airline’s collaboration with Andrés, celebrated for his innovative approach to cuisine, will see a phased rollout of the new menu throughout 2026. Delta is committed to sharing this unique culinary experience with as many guests as possible. Alongside the menu, Delta also revealed details about its most impressive wine program yet for the 2025/26 season, featuring a selection of premium wines available to business class travelers until September 2026.
Details of the New Menu
In a recent statement, Delta Air Lines outlined the key features of its Spanish-themed menu. The initiative is designed to offer passengers more than just a meal; each dish has been thoughtfully curated to maintain flavor, texture, and authenticity during air travel. Delta emphasized that careful attention has been given to “portion sizes, reheating methods, and presentation,” ensuring the dishes mirror the quality found in traditional tapas bars.
Stephanie Laster, the Managing Director of Onboard Dining Experience at Delta Air Lines, expressed enthusiasm for the new offerings. She stated, “Just like we lead in operational reliability, we are on the leading edge of culinary innovation, offering delicious meals that build a sense of connection to the world we serve.”
The initial menu features four main entrée options. One highlight is the Braised Beef Short Rib served with a Mojo Rojo BBQ Sauce, described as “tender and savory” with a tangy, smoky flavor complemented by creamy polenta. Another meat option is a chicken thigh prepared in a rich sauce made from dried fruit and sherry, accompanied by pearl onions, roasted carrots, and a celeriac-potato puree.
For vegetarian travelers, Delta has crafted two enticing options. The first is a traditional Spanish egg and potato omelet, known as a tortilla, served with a rich vegetable stew called Pisto Manchego during breakfast hours. Additionally, passengers can enjoy stuffed piquillo peppers filled with goat’s cheese and mushrooms, showcasing the depth of Spanish cuisine.
Delta’s Culinary Innovations and Wine Offerings
This collaboration with José Andrés adds to Delta Air Lines’ growing reputation for culinary innovation. The airline has previously partnered with popular brands, such as Shake Shack, allowing premium passengers to pre-order burgers for their flights. Following the success of this initiative, Delta expanded the program to additional departure airports by March 2025.
Delta’s commitment to enhancing the dining experience extends to its wine selection. The airline introduced a seasonal wine offering last November, featuring selections from California to Italy, designed to pair perfectly with new dishes on its seasonal menu. The current wine program, described as “its most exceptional Delta One wine program to date,” includes wines selected to help customers celebrate significant milestones.
Through its collaboration with Chef José Andrés and its focus on high-quality culinary experiences, Delta Air Lines is not only elevating in-flight dining but also reinforcing its position as a leader in the airline industry. As the airline rolls out these new offerings, passengers can look forward to a taste of Spain, even at 30,000 feet.
