Man Charged in Burlington Sexual Assault; Firearms Seized in Toronto

A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault on a GO Train in Burlington, Ontario. The incident occurred on November 14, 2023, around 20:45 as a woman was traveling westbound on a train approaching Appleby Station. According to Halton Police, the man approached the victim and, after initiating a conversation, allegedly grabbed her and attempted to kiss her. The victim managed to push him away, causing him to retreat to another part of the passenger car. Fortunately, she did not sustain any physical injuries.

Bruce Pawlowsky, who has no fixed address, was arrested on November 15 in Whitby. He faces charges of sexual assault and four counts of breach of probation. Firearms Investigation Leads to Charges in Toronto

In a separate investigation, a 33-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with multiple firearm-related offenses. The Toronto Police Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force acted on information regarding an individual believed to be in possession of a firearm. Following a search warrant executed on November 15, officers discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun, another semi-automatic handgun, and ammunition at a residence located in the Lawrence Avenue East and Orton Park Road area.

Public Assistance Requested in Missing Person Case

Toronto Police are also seeking assistance in locating Simon Napayok Shimout, a 38-year-old man who was reported missing on November 15 at approximately 16:45. Shimout was last seen in the Queen Street West and Dovercourt Road area. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with a medium build, short black hair, and wearing black framed reading glasses. At the time of his disappearance, he was dressed in a black jacket, grey sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes with white soles. Shimout is currently bound by a Form 49 warrant of committal after being found not criminally responsible for assault with a weapon. If located, the public is advised not to approach and to contact emergency services immediately.

Authorities are also investigating separate incidents involving potential threats to public safety. In one case, police are looking for a suspect involved in an indecent act on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway system. This incident reportedly took place on November 14, 2023, when a victim boarded a train at St. George Station. The suspect, described as a male aged 40 to 50, allegedly attempted to engage the victim in conversation before committing an indecent act on board.

In another ongoing investigation, police are examining a shooting incident that occurred on November 12, 2023, in the Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street area. Officers responded to a call reporting gunfire, during which an unknown suspect discharged a projectile from a vehicle at two moving cars and several TTC bus shelters. This reckless behavior resulted in significant property damage and posed a serious risk to public safety. Investigators are looking for a white Honda Civic with distinctive markings and are asking anyone who may have dashcam footage or further information to come forward.
