Police Seize Loaded Handguns During Scarborough Traffic Stop
Toronto Police arrested four individuals after discovering two loaded handguns during a traffic stop in Scarborough early on the morning of March 30, 2024. Officers initiated the stop around 06:00 after suspecting that the driver was operating the vehicle while impaired.
During the investigation, the police allegedly uncovered “two loaded firearms and a quantity of drugs,” according to Detective Matthew Wighton. The incident took place near the intersection of Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue East.
The driver, Christopher Gillmore, 27, from Toronto, faces multiple charges, including impaired operation of a vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, and driving without a valid licence. Gillmore is also charged with various firearms offences, drug possession, and possession of property obtained through crime valued under $5,000.
The other three occupants of the vehicle were identified as Eric MacNeil, 30; Alizin Townshend-Carter, 32; and Alison Pereira-Medeiros, 22. All three face an assortment of firearms-related charges and a count of possession of property obtained through crime valued under $5,000.

This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding gun violence and impaired driving in urban areas, prompting authorities to intensify their enforcement efforts.
