Toronto Man, 50, Arrested in Child Exploitation Investigation
A 50-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with multiple offenses related to a child exploitation investigation. On October 29, 2023, the Toronto Police Service, in collaboration with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit and the Child Rescue Coalition, executed a search warrant in the Danforth Rd. and Coxwell Ave. area. The investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly downloaded and possessed child sexual abuse and exploitation material from the internet.
Sean Mortensen faces serious charges, including possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, accessing such material, and making it available to others. Following the search of his home, police seized multiple devices that contained the illicit material. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact them at 416-808-8500 or to reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or through their website at 222tips.com.
Investigation into East-End Sexual Assault
In a separate case, the Toronto Police are actively searching for a suspect linked to a sexual assault that occurred earlier this month in East York. Officers responded to reports of the incident on October 18, 2023, at approximately 12:44 p.m. in the vicinity of Sibley and Danforth Avenues.
The victim reported that a man led them into the basement of a local establishment, where the alleged assault took place. Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect is described as approximately 30 years old, standing around 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, a moustache and goatee, and curly brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black jacket, a black sweater, jeans, and blue and black shoes.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to come forward. They can be reached at 416-808-5500 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or their website at 222tips.com. The authorities continue to emphasize the importance of community vigilance in addressing such serious offenses.
