Windsor Firefighters Tackle Blaze in Downtown Commercial Building

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services responded to a significant structure fire in downtown Windsor on the morning of October 19, 2023. Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at a commercial building located at 44 Chatham St. E. around 8:20 a.m. following reports of smoke in the vicinity.
Upon their arrival, the response was escalated to a full working fire. According to Brian Bobbie, deputy chief of support services, initial investigations indicated that the fire originated in an electrical vault. Fire crews quickly mobilized to combat the flames, employing offensive tactics to control the situation. They focused on ventilating smoke from the building and conducting thorough searches of both the structure and nearby properties.
Firefighters worked diligently, and their efforts proved effective as the fire was extinguished. As of now, some crews have been released from the scene, indicating that the situation is under control.
