Gas prices across the Maritimes increased overnight as residents prepare for the Labour Day long weekend. The adjustments, which took effect just before the holiday, reflect varying rises in fuel costs across the three provinces.

In Nova Scotia, the price of regular self-serve gasoline rose by 2.3 cents, now set at a minimum of 147.9 cents per litre in the Halifax area. Diesel prices also saw an upward shift, increasing by 3.5 cents to a new minimum of 149.0 cents per litre. Cape Breton reported a higher price for regular gasoline, now at 149.8 cents per litre, while diesel is priced at 151.0 cents per litre.

Prince Edward Island maintained a steady price for regular self-serve gasoline, which remains unchanged at 150.2 cents per litre. However, diesel prices on the island increased by 2.3 cents, bringing the new minimum to 157.3 cents per litre.

In New Brunswick, the price of regular self-serve gasoline saw a modest rise of 1.3 cents, bringing the maximum price to 147.9 cents per litre. Diesel prices in the province increased by 2.5 cents, resulting in a maximum price of 152.0 cents per litre.

As the Labour Day weekend approaches on September 4, 2023, the rise in gas prices may impact travel plans for many residents. The increases reflect broader trends in fuel pricing, influenced by various market factors.

Consumers are advised to monitor fuel prices and consider their travel options as they prepare for the long weekend.
