Thunder Duo Max Delivers Immersive 5.1.2 Atmos Sound with Four Speakers
A new audio system, the Thunder Duo Max, is set to transform desktop and living room sound experiences by delivering a true 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos setup using just four speakers. This innovative system is designed to provide an immersive audio environment that enhances gaming, films, and music, all while maintaining a compact footprint.
Revolutionizing Home Audio
Most gaming setups typically rely on either a soundbar or a headset, both of which come with limitations. Soundbars can create a flat soundstage, while headsets, although isolating, often become uncomfortable after extended use. The Thunder Duo Max addresses these issues, offering a modular audio solution that fits seamlessly into various spaces without overwhelming them with equipment.
At the heart of the Thunder Duo Max is a pair of compact bookshelf speakers that manage front channels and height effects. This setup is not merely a virtual surround sound bar; it is equipped with dual upward-firing Sky Channels, which project sound towards the ceiling, creating a realistic overhead audio layer. This feature enhances the overall experience, making elements such as footsteps, rain, or helicopters feel positioned accurately within the space, much like in a high-end cinema.
The system comprises a phantom center channel and low-frequency effects provided by a wireless Thunder Sub, which uses a 5.25-inch driver capable of achieving bass frequencies down to 35 Hz. The full system delivers a total output of 110 W RMS with a peak power of 270 W. With total harmonic distortion under 0.5 percent, users can expect crisp dialogue and impactful sound effects without muddiness.
Flexible Connectivity and User Experience
The Thunder Duo Max offers extensive connectivity options. It supports HDMI 2.1 and HDMI eARC for next-gen gaming consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series, alongside high-frame-rate PC output at 4K 120 Hz. USB-C ports allow connections to devices such as the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, while Bluetooth 5.3 ensures low-latency wireless audio streaming.
Input switching is designed for convenience, allowing users to toggle between different devices without the need for constant re-cabling. This makes it easy to switch from a PC setup to console gaming or streaming without disruption.
The dual DSP architecture combines Dolby Atmos decoding with OXS’s proprietary Xspace spatial algorithm, ensuring an optimal audio experience. The system has been finely tuned in an acoustic lab to achieve studio-level frequency response. Additionally, users can customize sound profiles and lighting through a desktop app, featuring six-ring RGB lighting with multiple effects and 50 colors.
Living with the Thunder Duo Max changes how audio is experienced in games, films, and music. Instead of sound being confined to a flat plane in front of the screen, it envelops the listener, providing a sense of space and immersion. This system caters to audiophiles who appreciate high-quality sound without sacrificing convenience.
The Thunder Duo Max retails for $569, down from an original price of $849, with limited availability as only 105 out of 200 units remain. With over $73,000 raised in funding, it has garnered significant attention from audio enthusiasts.
In summary, the Thunder Duo Max represents a significant advancement in desktop audio technology, merging flexibility with high-performance sound, making it an appealing choice for those who prioritize immersive audio experiences.
