A diabetes support group will convene on January 8, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the OSF Saint Paul Medical Center located in Mendota. This meeting, part of the “Get Back on Track Diabetes Support Group,” aims to provide resources and support for individuals managing diabetes or those caring for someone with the condition.

Focus on Nutrition and Community Support

The session will be facilitated by Susan Glassman, a food and nutrition educator from the University of Illinois Extension, and Jennifer Scully, a clinical dietitian with OSF HealthCare. January’s topic, “Powering Up with Legumes,” will highlight the benefits of incorporating beans and lentils into diabetes-friendly meal plans.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste recipes featuring these nutritious foods, as well as enjoy diabetes-friendly snacks provided during the meeting. This supportive environment encourages attendees to share their experiences and strategies for preventing diabetes and managing its effects.
