Known for his unwavering dedication to both his family and community, Greve’s life was marked by a commitment to service and a deep love for the outdoors, particularly the shores of Lake Superior where he spent countless hours at his family camp in Goulais Bay.

Rob, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his loving wife, Patty (Piraino), and their three children: Anastasia (Brian), Danielle (Jaime), and Peter (Dominique). He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter, Grace Denneny, and numerous family members who will deeply miss his presence. The community remembers him not just for his role as a firefighter since 1993, but also as a mentor and friend to many.

A Life of Service and Community Commitment

Greve’s journey into firefighting began with a desire to serve and protect. Initially drawn by the allure of bravery, he quickly became known for his dedication to community welfare. Throughout his career, he championed causes such as the Friends of the Firefighters charity, which supports individuals facing disabilities and health issues in Sault Ste. Marie. His commitment to the community extended beyond his firefighting duties; he was actively involved in coaching youth football and officiating games, earning the nickname “Old School” among fellow coaches for his focus on discipline and teamwork.

In addition to his professional achievements, Greve was a devoted family man. He took pride in spending quality time with his daughters, from learning to braid hair to enjoying outdoor activities like swimming and canoeing. His son, Peter, shared in his passion for football, where they bonded over practices and games. Greve’s love for his family was evident in the countless projects he undertook, from building furniture to planning family trips.

Memories of a Life Well-Lived

Rob’s life was filled with moments of joy and laughter, often revolving around the camp he loved. He cherished the time spent with friends and family there, creating lasting memories through celebrations, card games, and adventures on the water. His connection to the lake was profound; it was a place where he found peace and happiness, whether he was fishing, snorkeling, or simply enjoying a quiet morning with his dog, Kona.

His family acknowledges that Rob’s impact extends far beyond his immediate circle. People from all walks of life were touched by his kindness and generous spirit. Greve was known for his sense of humor, which he often used to navigate life’s challenges, including his own health struggles.
