Lethbridge Hurricanes Acquire Jack Toogood from Oil Kings

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have made a strategic move by acquiring forward Jack Toogood from the Edmonton Oil Kings. In exchange for the 18-year-old, the Hurricanes will send a conditional eighth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft to Edmonton. This trade reflects Lethbridge’s commitment to enhancing their roster as they approach the mid-point of the season.
Toogood, a product of Devon, Alberta, was originally drafted by the Oil Kings in the 12th round, 263rd overall, during the 2022 WHL Draft. This past season, he participated in five games with Edmonton, scoring two goals and achieving a plus-3 rating while accumulating two penalty minutes. Over his three seasons with the Oil Kings, he has played in a total of 65 regular-season games, recording nine points (eight goals and one assist) along with 48 penalty minutes.
Impact of the Trade on the Hurricanes
The addition of Toogood is expected to bolster the Hurricanes’ offensive capabilities as they gear up for a challenging schedule. With their next match scheduled for October 10, 2023, against the Red Deer Rebels, Lethbridge will be looking to integrate Toogood into their lineup quickly. Following this away game, the Hurricanes will return to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena to host the Portland Winterhawks.
The Hurricanes’ management expressed enthusiasm about the trade, highlighting Toogood’s potential to contribute significantly to the team’s performance. As the WHL season progresses, the integration of new talent like Toogood could play a crucial role in the Hurricanes’ quest for a playoff spot.
This trade marks a notable moment in Toogood’s young career as he transitions to a new team, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to his new environment in Lethbridge. As both teams prepare for their upcoming matches, the effects of this trade will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike.
