Brandon University concluded its fall examination period on December 22, 2025, marking the end of a busy semester. As the holiday season approaches, the university will enter its break starting December 23, reopening on January 5, 2026, for winter orientation.

Most classes at Brandon University will commence on January 6, though some courses within the Faculty of Education will begin on January 5. The Healthy Living Centre will remain open during the holiday season, except on December 25, December 26, and January 1, when it will be closed. For further details regarding hours, students and staff can visit HealthyLivingCentre.ca.

Athletics and Community Events Ahead

The university’s athletic teams, known as the Bobcats, are currently on break, with competitive play in the Canada West conference set to resume in January. The basketball teams will be the first to return, hosting home games against the University of Winnipeg Wesmen on January 8 and January 9 at the Healthy Living Centre.

Meanwhile, Assiniboine College is gearing up for its participation in Manitoba Ag Days, occurring in January. The college invites community members to kick off their Wednesdays with a breakfast event aimed at supporting financial awards for students pursuing agricultural programs. This event is scheduled for the first day of Manitoba Ag Days. Tickets are available through assiniboine.net/events.

In addition, alumni are encouraged to reconnect at the Ag Mixer, which will take place on January 21, 2026. While registration is not mandatory, it is recommended to email [email protected] for planning purposes.

Assiniboine College will observe its holiday closure from December 24 at noon until January 2, inclusive. The college community looks forward to welcoming students and staff back in the new year and wishes everyone a joyful holiday season.

These events and closures highlight the commitment of both institutions to support their communities and foster connections, even during the holiday break.
