Windsor Regional Hospital is actively seeking to recruit new staff for its diagnostic imaging (DI) department, addressing significant staffing gaps. The hospital has launched a dedicated job recruitment page to attract qualified professionals in various imaging specialties, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine.

To incentivize applicants, the hospital is offering a signing bonus of up to $25,000. According to Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President, the hospital is looking to hire approximately 15 new staff members across its facilities.

“We currently have vacancies in MRI and CT, with four and five positions open in those departments respectively. Additionally, the nuclear medicine department also requires about four to five new staff members,” Krywionek said. The hospital’s overall vacancy rate stands at approximately five percent, but the DI department is facing a higher rate, around ten percent.

The challenge in recruitment stems partly from the absence of a Medical Radiation Technology (MRT) training program in Windsor. Krywionek emphasized, “We encounter difficulties with recruitment as we currently don’t have an MRT training program in Windsor. Therefore, we attempt to attract talent from across Ontario.” She noted a positive response to recent recruitment efforts, which have led to a gradual decrease in vacancies.

Windsor Regional Hospital is focused on filling these critical positions at both the Ouellette and Met campuses. The DI team is essential in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality care through advanced imaging technologies, highlighting the importance of these roles within the healthcare system.

For those interested in applying, further information can be found on the hospital’s recruitment page. The ongoing efforts to bolster staffing in diagnostic imaging reflect a commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
