Genesis Reveals G90 Wingback Concept at Magma Event in France
The luxury automotive brand, Genesis, unveiled its G90 Wingback concept during the Magma event at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. This performance-oriented wagon variant of the G90 flagship sedan has generated significant excitement among automotive enthusiasts. Notably, Genesis has confirmed that a production version is under consideration, although no formal announcement has been made yet.
The G90 Wingback concept reimagines the standard G90 platform by incorporating a striking wagon body design. It maintains the sedan’s impressive wheelbase and overall length of nearly 5.3 meters, while replacing the conventional trunk with a reworked roofline that culminates in a ducktail spoiler and prominent roof fins. The exterior features flared fenders that are approximately two inches wider than the standard model, complemented by a rear diffuser, quad exhaust outlets, and full-width LED taillights.
The front of the Wingback showcases a slimmer grille and aggressive bumper intakes, with additional vertical slots between the upper and lower grilles enhancing its sporty appearance. Side vents exit the widened arches, which house larger alloy wheels fitted with performance tires. The design elements echo features from earlier Genesis G90 Coupe and Convertible concepts presented in April 2025.
Beneath its eye-catching bodywork, the G90 Wingback is expected to share the same mechanical components as the production G90 sedan. Power is anticipated from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, which in standard form produces 375 horsepower. A higher-output version, available in Canada, delivers 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, featuring an electric supercharger. The drivetrain will likely be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
While Genesis has not disclosed specific performance specifications for the G90 Wingback, the potential for the V6 to exceed 500 horsepower is a consideration, particularly if the vehicle is to feature Magma performance characteristics. Notably, the cloud-based multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering, standard on the G90 sedan, are also expected to be included.
Currently, detailed information regarding the interior of the G90 Wingback concept remains undisclosed. Although Genesis has yet to commit to production, the mere fact that it is under consideration speaks volumes about the brand’s ambition. Should Genesis decide to move forward with the G90 Wingback, it would represent a significant challenge to established German luxury automakers, who have long dominated the premium wagon segment with models like the BMW M5 Touring, Audi RS 6 Avant, and Mercedes E-Class Wagon.
As the automotive community anticipates further developments, the G90 Wingback concept stands as a testament to Genesis’s commitment to pushing boundaries within the luxury market.
