FPX Nickel Achieves ECOLOGO Certification for Sustainable Practices
FPX Nickel (TSXV: FPX; US-OTCQB: FPOCF) has successfully obtained the ECOLOGO certification from UL Solutions, a respected third-party verification program that assesses sustainable practices in mineral exploration. This milestone, announced by the company, underscores its commitment to responsible exploration methods and sustainable development.
Martin Turenne, president and CEO of FPX, described the certification as a significant achievement for the company. He emphasized that it reflects the team’s dedication to exceeding regulatory requirements and integrating sustainability into their operations. Turenne stated, “Securing ECOLOGO certification from UL Solutions demonstrates our respect for Indigenous rights and the communities where we operate, and reflects our belief that responsible exploration is the foundation of successful project development.”
Details of ECOLOGO Certification
The ECOLOGO certification is recognized for its rigorous standards concerning environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance across Canada. Companies seeking this certification are evaluated on various criteria, including environmental protection, health and safety, respect for Indigenous rights, and community engagement. This certification aims to assure First Nations and local communities of a company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and reducing environmental impacts.
Investors also perceive this certification as an essential component of due diligence, enhancing FPX Nickel’s ESG profile. Ranee Valles, director and general manager of UL Solutions’ product sustainability group, commented, “Earning UL Solutions ECOLOGO certification empowers mineral exploration companies to demonstrate independently verified leadership in environmental stewardship.”
In today’s climate, where transparency is crucial for investor confidence and regulatory compliance is essential, the certification not only helps distinguish certified companies in the marketplace but also promotes stronger trust with stakeholders and local communities.
Certification Process and Impact
FPX Nickel underwent a detailed desktop audit of its corporate policies and practices, followed by a field audit during the 2025 Baptiste exploration program. Remarkably, FPX became the first company in Canada to achieve ECOLOGO certification for operations outside Quebec, completing the certification process between July and September 2025. This accomplishment is indicative of robust corporate and field ESG policies that the company has implemented.
In 2024, FPX’s Baptiste nickel project was also recognized as the first to be included in British Columbia’s new Critical Minerals Office concierge service initiative, further highlighting the project’s significance in the region’s mineral exploration landscape.
