Taco Justice Serves Final Tacos After 13 Years in Victoria
On Saturday, November 11, 2023, Taco Justice, a beloved food truck in Victoria, will serve its final tacos after 13 years of operation. Located at 1580 Cook Street, the food truck is currently listed for sale for $175,000. The restaurant is known for its vibrant atmosphere and loyal customer base, which has supported it through various challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taco Justice will operate during its final lunch and dinner hours on Saturday, with customers welcomed from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Staff reported a busy afternoon as patrons flocked to enjoy their last meals from the truck. After lunch, the team took a brief hour to prepare for the dinner rush, hoping to provide a memorable end to their service.
Reasons for Closure and Future Prospects
The decision to sell Taco Justice stems from time constraints faced by its owner, Temperance Phair. Phair also co-owns Burger Crush, with locations in Vancouver and Victoria, alongside partner Scott Renton. A representative from Chinook Business Advisory Ltd, which is handling the sale, stated, “They are looking to sell Taco Justice to someone who can devote their full time and effort to it.”
According to the listing, Taco Justice has projected sales revenue between $500,000 and $1 million, with cash flow estimated between $100,000 and $250,000. The advisory firm highlights the food truck as an attractive business opportunity, emphasizing its potential for growth through avenues such as catering, franchising, or even establishing a brick-and-mortar location.
Adapting to Challenges
Throughout its 13 years, Taco Justice has navigated numerous challenges, including the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Phair noted on the food truck’s Facebook page that adjustments were necessary to ensure customer safety during this time. “With COVID-19, we had to change a few things to keep everyone safe,” he stated. The business reduced its staff to manage physical distancing and implemented measures such as eliminating tables and promoting contactless payments.
Despite these hurdles, Taco Justice remained a staple in the local food scene, drawing in customers who appreciated its dedication to quality and safety. The listing by Chinook Business Advisory Ltd captures the essence of Taco Justice, portraying it as a vibrant spot for taco lovers and a promising venture for prospective owners.
As Taco Justice prepares for its last service, it invites customers to come and celebrate the end of an era. The food truck will open its window for the final time to serve loyal patrons and newcomers alike, marking the end of a significant chapter in Victoria’s culinary landscape.
