APA Group Partners with CS Energy on Brigalow Power Plant Project
On November 30, 2025, APA Group Stapled Securities announced a significant joint development agreement with CS Energy for the construction of the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant in Australia. This partnership marks a notable step for APA as it embarks on its first major gas peaking project in recent years.
Project Details and Ownership Structure
During an investor call led by CEO and Managing Director Adam Watson, the company detailed that APA will retain an 80% ownership stake in the new power plant, while CS Energy will own the remaining 20%. Watson emphasized the importance of this project not only for APA but also for meeting Australia’s growing energy demands.
Watson noted that while the agreement has been reached, specific details, including the estimated cost of the project, are still under discussion as they work towards a final investment decision (FID). He stated, “This project represents our commitment to expanding our portfolio in the energy sector, and we are eager to move forward with all stakeholders involved.”
Future Implications and Stakeholder Engagement
APA’s CFO, Garrick Rollason, joined Watson on the call, highlighting the collaborative nature of this venture. The partnership with CS Energy is expected to enhance operational efficiencies and contribute positively to the local economy by creating job opportunities during the construction phase.
The Brigalow Power Plant is poised to play a critical role in supporting the stability of the energy grid, particularly during peak demand periods. As Australia transitions towards more sustainable energy sources, projects like Brigalow will be essential for ensuring reliable power supply.
Investors and stakeholders are encouraged to remain engaged as further developments regarding the project unfold. APA Group has committed to providing updates as the project progresses towards FID and beyond, ensuring transparency and collaboration throughout the development process.
This announcement reflects APA Group’s strategic focus on expanding its influence in the energy sector while responding to the pressing needs of the Australian market. With the joint efforts of CS Energy, the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant is set to emerge as a vital asset in the region’s energy landscape.
