In a surprising turn of events, Delcy Rodríguez has assumed the role of interim president in Venezuela following the capture of her ally, Nicolás Maduro, by U.S. forces during a nighttime military operation. Rodríguez, who served as Maduro’s vice president since 2018, has been a prominent figure in the Venezuelan government, overseeing the country’s oil-dependent economy and its intelligence services.
