Quantum Startup Partners to Expand Access to Hybrid Computing
A new partnership is set to enhance access to quantum hardware, with Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech joining forces with Oxigen Data Center. This collaboration aims to integrate quantum computing into data centres, marking a significant step toward expanding the capabilities of modern computing infrastructures.
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has established its data centre in Barcelona, featuring both classical computing systems and two types of quantum computers: analog and digital. The partnership with Oxigen Data Center, known for its colocation and hybrid solutions, focuses on identifying the requirements for incorporating quantum computers into existing data centre frameworks. This initiative is expected to pave the way for a hybrid data centre model that is accessible to a wide range of users across various sectors.
Leveraging Hybrid Computing for Complex Challenges
The integration of classical high-performance computers with quantum processing units presents a unique opportunity to tackle complex problems that are challenging for classical systems alone. Classical systems will continue to manage routine tasks and data, while quantum processors will address specialized, computationally intensive functions. This dual approach allows for a more efficient handling of tasks, enhancing overall processing power.
Analog quantum computing, one of the key components of this initiative, is particularly effective for continuous and complex problems. It excels in simulating molecules, materials, and physical systems. Additionally, it provides innovative methods for training artificial intelligence models and resolving large-scale optimization challenges. This makes it a promising avenue for achieving faster and more energy-efficient computing solutions.
In contrast to digital quantum computing, which relies on discrete qubits and gates, analog quantum computing operates on continuous quantum states and uses continuous transformations. This fundamental difference opens new avenues for exploration in the field of quantum technology.
Building a Quantum Future from Europe
Both Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and Oxigen Data Center share a vision of developing the future of quantum cloud computing in Europe. As the computing landscape evolves, it becomes increasingly important to define how classical and quantum technologies will coexist within industrial environments.
Although quantum computers are still in the scaling phase, the urgency to establish how these systems will be deployed, interconnected, and operated is palpable. If quantum computing is to become an integral part of the digital backbone, understanding its integration into existing infrastructures is crucial for shaping the future cloud ecosystem.
“The future of computation will be hybrid. To make that future possible, we must start defining how quantum processors and classical machines in data centre infrastructure communicate, scale, and operate together,” stated Marta P. Estarellas, CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, in a message to Digital Journal.
As the partnership progresses, it aims to clarify these interactions and facilitate the development of a robust hybrid computing environment.
