Canadian developer Digital Extremes has announced that its acclaimed multiplayer action-RPG/shooter, Warframe, will debut on Android devices starting February 11, 2024. The game will initially launch in Canada via Google Play, with a global rollout scheduled for February 18. This marks a significant expansion for Warframe, which has maintained a strong player base since its initial release over a decade ago.

To ensure a smooth gaming experience, players will need devices that meet specific requirements: an ARM64 processor, a 64-bit version of Android, a minimum of 4GB of RAM, and Android OS version 12.0 or higher. This Android version will provide the complete Warframe experience, consistent with the versions available on consoles and PC, as well as the upcoming iOS release in February 2024.

As part of the launch festivities, Digital Extremes is offering a special incentive for those who pre-register through the Google Play Store. Players who log in by March 4 will receive the exclusive Cumulus Collection, which includes items such as the Cirrus Armour Bundle, Cumulus Syandana, Stratus Pistol Skin, Spektaka Color Palette, and a 3-Day Resource Booster.

Warframe’s Continued Popularity and Future Developments

Despite being released over 12 years ago, Warframe remains a beloved title, attracting a robust community of players. The annual TennoCon event, hosted by Digital Extremes in London, Ontario, draws thousands of fans each year. Tickets for this year’s convention, set for July 10 and 11, will go on sale on February 27.

The mobile launch follows the release of the major expansion, The Old Peace, in December 2023. Additionally, Digital Extremes has recently collaborated with renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog, further enhancing the game’s artistic reach. In parallel to Warframe, the studio is also developing an unrelated fantasy action-RPG titled Soulframe, which is currently undergoing community testing through pre-alpha releases dubbed “Preludes.”

With its mobile launch, Digital Extremes aims to broaden Warframe’s accessibility and continue its legacy in the gaming world. The upcoming Android version is poised to attract new players while retaining the franchise’s dedicated community, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation and player engagement.
