Serious Collision Claims Life and Injures Four in Ontario
A serious two-vehicle collision on Nipissing Street in West Nipissing resulted in one fatality and left four individuals injured on Saturday night. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash at approximately 23:40 local time.
Details of the Incident
The collision was reported by OPP in a social media post at 02:30 on Sunday. The police stated that “Front Street is closed between Parker Street and Church Street in West Nipissing due to a serious two-vehicle collision.” Emergency crews were promptly dispatched to the scene, and the public was urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
According to the OPP, the passenger of one vehicle, a 62-year-old female from Sudbury, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, four occupants from the second vehicle were transported to local hospitals by emergency medical personnel and Air Ornge. As of Sunday morning, their conditions were described as having “undetermined injuries.”
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
Police have deployed technical collision investigation and reconstruction teams to determine the cause of the crash. “The investigation remains ongoing,” an OPP spokesperson stated.
By 10:20 on Sunday morning, Front Street had reopened to traffic, but Nipissing Street near Front Street continues to be closed as investigations proceed. The OPP is seeking assistance from the public.
