Highguard Introduces Experimental 5v5 Raids for Players
Developer Wildlight has responded to player demands by introducing a new experimental feature in their game, Highguard. Beginning today and continuing through the weekend, players can participate in five-on-five (5v5) Raids, a significant expansion from the traditional three-on-three (3v3) format. This initiative aims to test larger-scale matchups and may lead to a permanent addition if player feedback is favorable.
Details of the New 5v5 Raid Format
The 5v5 Raids come with several adjustments to accommodate the larger teams. Each team now possesses a total of ten shared lives, an increase from the usual six. Additionally, the respawn timers have been extended slightly. These changes are intended to create more strategic opportunities for players, particularly during critical moments such as planting or defusing generator bombs. Despite these enhancements, Wildlight has cautioned players not to expect significant performance improvements for 5v5 matches at this stage.
It’s important to note that the current version of the game does not support five-player squads in the Firing Range. As a result, teams larger than three will find the Play button disabled when attempting to access this mode.
New Features and Future Updates
In addition to the new Raid format, the update introduces a new base called Soul Well, described as a dark relic from a bygone era. According to the game’s lore, the Iron Vigil has crafted this eerie construct for live combat scenarios “where the dead still speak.” The Soul Well will be available in all game modes, adding an intriguing narrative element to player experiences.
Graphical enhancements have also been included in this patch. Console players now have access to anisotropic material toggles, a feature previously reserved for PC users. Both console and PC platforms will benefit from a new motion blur toggle, enhancing visual performance.
Looking ahead, Mohammad Alavi, the design lead for Highguard, reaffirmed the developer’s commitment to ongoing updates. He confirmed a comprehensive content calendar for 2026, promising a steady influx of new features and improvements in the coming months. This dedication to evolution highlights Wildlight‘s focus on player engagement and satisfaction.
As players dive into the new 5v5 Raids, the community eagerly awaits feedback that could shape the future of Highguard and its gameplay dynamics.
