Savannah Guthrie has made a heartfelt appeal for the safe return of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, as the investigation into her disappearance progresses into its third week. In a video shared on Instagram, Savannah urged the suspected kidnapper to “do the next right thing.” She expressed hope and belief for her mother’s safe return, stating, “It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken, and we still have hope.”

In her emotional message, Savannah reached out directly to the alleged abductor, emphasizing that “it’s never too late” to act with compassion. She reinforced her faith in the fundamental goodness of people, saying, “We believe in the essential goodness of every human being, and it’s never too late.”

Investigation Developments and Evidence Collection

The plea comes as new evidence emerges in the case. The FBI reported that a glove containing DNA found near Nancy’s home in Tucson appears to match that of a masked individual seen outside her residence on the night she vanished. The glove, discovered in a field, has been sent for further DNA analysis. Preliminary results suggest a possible link to the individual recorded on surveillance cameras.

Nancy was last seen at her home on January 31, 2023, and was reported missing the following day. Authorities found traces of her blood on the front porch, raising concerns about her well-being. Ransom notes have circulated among news outlets, though deadlines for payment have passed without resolution.

The FBI described the suspect as a man approximately five feet nine inches tall, medium build, wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack at the time of the incident. The agency has identified about 16 gloves at various locations near the house, with most belonging to searchers involved in the investigation.

Law enforcement activity intensified late Friday night as officials sealed off a road approximately 3.2 kilometres from Nancy’s home. A Range Rover SUV was also towed from a nearby restaurant parking lot as part of the ongoing investigation, although no arrests have been made.

Health Concerns and Ongoing Efforts

Authorities have raised alarms regarding Nancy Guthrie’s health, noting that she requires essential daily medication and has a pacemaker. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized the critical nature of the case, stating that detectives are still working to determine the motives behind her disappearance.

“Somebody’s disappeared from the face of the earth, and now we have a camera that shows the person who did this,” Nanos said. He expressed confidence that investigators would eventually uncover the truth, stating, “Maybe it’s an hour from now. Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy.”

The investigation has generated significant public interest, resulting in over 30,000 calls for leads. The FBI is actively seeking assistance from the public, utilizing digital billboards across states, including Texas, California, Arizona, and New Mexico. The reward for information leading to Nancy’s location or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance has been increased to $100,000.

As the search continues, Savannah Guthrie remains hopeful for her mother’s safe return, urging anyone with information to come forward.
