Peel Police Arrest Three in Armed Kidnapping Case in Brampton
Peel Regional Police have charged three individuals in connection with a kidnapping case that unfolded in Brampton, Ontario. The investigation began on November 6, 2025, when authorities received a report about a kidnapping where the suspects demanded $200,000 in ransom.
The incident was reported to police around 18:00 local time by a friend of the victim, who stated that the kidnappers threatened harm to the individual if the ransom was not paid. Thanks to prompt police action, the victim was located unharmed during the investigation.
One suspect was arrested at the scene, where officers recovered a .45 calibre firearm. Following this, investigators executed two Criminal Code search warrants on February 13, 2026, at locations in Brampton, uncovering additional evidence related to the crime. Among the items seized were a loaded firearm magazine and an unloaded rifle magazine.
Peel Regional Police have identified the suspects involved in the case. Harkirat Singh, a 27-year-old from Brampton, faces multiple charges, including:
– Kidnapping while Using Firearm
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
– Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Another suspect, Amritpal Singh, also 27 years old and from Brampton, has been charged with similar offenses, including:
– Kidnapping while Using Firearm
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
– Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
An arrest warrant has been issued for Hasanpreet Singh, a 28-year-old without a fixed address, who will face several charges, including:
– Kidnapping while Using Firearm
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Marc Andrews commented on the case, emphasizing the dedication of the officers involved. He stated, “This investigation highlights the hard work and dedication of our officers and investigators. Through their coordinated and persistent efforts, they removed an illegal firearm from our streets and intervened in time to protect a victim from harm.”
