ATB Offers Free Webinar on Combatting Cybercrime and Fraud
ATB Financial is set to host a free online workshop aimed at equipping participants with essential strategies to safeguard their finances against the rising threats of fraud and cybercrime. The event, titled “Protecting Your Wealth from Fraud and Cybercrime,” will take place on February 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM (local time).
The session will be led by Aisha Kitchlew, the senior manager of fraud and cybercrime at ATB. Kitchlew will share practical and effective techniques designed to help individuals protect their accounts from increasingly sophisticated fraudsters. An overview of the webinar emphasizes the importance of staying ahead of modern cyber threats, particularly as technology becomes deeply ingrained in daily financial activities.
The Southeast Chamber of Commerce is facilitating registrations for the webinar. Interested participants can sign up by visiting their official website. With the surge in online scams, this initiative comes at a critical time, especially as March marks Fraud Prevention Month across Alberta.
Local authorities are preparing to enhance their outreach efforts to inform the public about various scams that have led to significant financial losses. In 2025, residents of Medicine Hat reported losses exceeding $4 million due to these fraudulent activities.
The upcoming webinar represents a proactive approach to addressing these issues and aims to empower individuals with knowledge and tools to better secure their financial well-being. As digital transactions continue to rise, understanding the landscape of cybercrime is essential for everyone.
Through this workshop, ATB Financial seeks to foster a community of informed individuals who can recognize potential threats and take preventive measures. As the financial environment evolves, initiatives like this are vital in promoting awareness and resilience against fraud and cybercrime.
