PyroGenesis Secures First Titanium Powder Order from European Aerospace Client
PyroGenesis Inc. has confirmed its first order for titanium metal powder from a European Scientific Aerospace Research Organization. The contract, announced on February 23, 2026, involves the supply of titanium powder produced using PyroGenesis’ NexGenTM plasma atomization process. This order marks a significant milestone for the company, showcasing its growing presence in the aerospace sector.
The unnamed client specializes in advanced research and testing techniques for the European aerospace industry. Similar to other national research organizations, it collaborates with leading aerospace companies to foster innovation and enhance industry standards. The titanium powder, specifically “coarse” cut Ti64, will be utilized in electron beam melting applications within the organization’s research and development initiatives.
The Ti64 powder, with a particle size ranging from 45 to 106 microns, is set to be shipped shortly. The terms of the contract remain confidential, a standard practice to maintain competitive advantage.
Significance of the Order
Mr. P. Peter Pascali, President and CEO of PyroGenesis, emphasized the importance of this contract. He stated, “The order announced today is important for two reasons: not only is it the first contract with this very respected aerospace organization, but it’s also the first contract for the specific particle size range of 45 to 106 microns.” This development not only expands PyroGenesis’ client base but also enhances the range of metal powders the company offers, indicating a strategic expansion into the aerospace market.
The increasing demand for titanium powder is reflected in the broader industry context. The global market for 3D printing using titanium powder is projected to surge from $214 million in 2023 to an estimated $1.4 billion by 2032. Titanium is recognized as a critical mineral in both Canada and the United States, owing to its applications across various sectors, including aerospace, defense, and medical technology.
PyroGenesis’ Industry Position
PyroGenesis is recognized as a leader in plasma technology, having pioneered the plasma atomization process. The company’s NexGenTM system represents a significant advancement in producing high-quality metal powder suitable for additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing. With over 35 years of experience, PyroGenesis delivers innovative solutions to challenges in energy, propulsion, and materials development.
The company’s operations are ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified, underscoring its commitment to quality and safety in manufacturing processes. PyroGenesis’ shares are traded on the TSX (PYR), OTCQX (PYRGF), and Frankfurt (8PY1) stock exchanges.
As industry demand for titanium continues to grow, PyroGenesis is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities and contribute to advancements in aerospace technology. The successful execution of this contract may further solidify PyroGenesis’ reputation as a key supplier in the aerospace materials market.
